ROUNDS

The Talent Search is applicable to both the Programming and Applications Olympiads.  It is a pen-and-paper aptitude test, used by many schools to select learners for IT, CAT and in some cases even Maths.

The Olympiads are different for Programming and Applications.  Both need the use of a computer for each learner and cannot be done without a computer.

*   For the Programming Olympiad the participant needs a computer language such as C, C++, Delphi, Java, Pascal or Python.

*   For the Applications Olympiad the participant needs an “Office” package such as Microsoft Office or Open Office.

The Final Rounds of both Olympiads take place in Cape Town and equipment is provided by the host organisation.

Top participants of the Programming Olympiad have an opportunity to take part in the International Olympiad in Informatics.  There is no equivalent international competition for the Applications Olympiad yet.
